2.  List of Legal Advice Options, Human Rights Commissions and Tribunals Across Canada

If a complaint of sexual harassment is dealt with inadequately by an employer, a target can file a formal complaint with their provincial or territorial Human Rights Commission or Tribunal as per the list and contact below.  

Most commissions have online forms to file a complaint and in most cases, legal assistance is not required but there are resources listed for each province if it is needed.

SHARP Workplaces   CLAS (Community Legal Assistance Society) has partnered with EVABC (Ending Violence Association of British Columbia) to create the SHARP Workplace Program (Sexual Harassment Advice Response and Prevention for Workplaces).  They are a legal advice clinic that will provide up to 5 hours of free legal advice to anyone who has experienced sexual harassment in their workplace in British Columbia.

Alberta

Alberta Human Rights Commission.    They provide access to a Sexual Harassment Information Sheet that contains useful guidance on employer responsibility in Alberta where by law, employers are responsible for maintaining a workplace free from sexual harassment for all employees, customers and clients and must take prompt and appropriate action.

Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission.    They provide an information page specific to Bullying and Harassment in the Workplace  where they advise that complaints must first be filed with the workplace and additional assistance can be obtained from the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Division at 1-800-567-7233
