About.

Me Too Mining Association was created to facilitate a conversation about sexual violence, sexual harassment, bullying, intimidation and discrimination experienced by workers  in Mining, Mineral Exploration and Mining Impacted Communities.

Me Too is women and men finding a space to talk about difficult and traumatic experiences, shining a light on dark corners in our lives, healing, sharing burdens, finding resources, finding community, changing cultures, preventing violence and harm and moving our lives forward.
Meet our Board of Directors

Established in 2018

Mining related Organizations, Universities, Trades and Corporations are encouraging women to join the mining industry but there needs to be a change in the workplace culture so all workers are safe and secure.

Our Goals

MeTooMining wants to let everyone in mining who has been impacted by sexual violence/harassment know they are not alone, we stand in solidarity with them.  We need to start the conversation and talk about the experiences of all workers in mining, exploration and mining impacted communities.

MeTooMining will advocate for strong programs and policies against sexualized violence, sexual harassment, bullying, intimidation and discrimination
in the workplace, and ensure workers are provided avenues for reporting that are effective and include,
  • Clear policy on investigation procedures so that privacy and security are assured,
  • Access to an outside agency when senior management or board members are involved,
  • Ensure a safe and secure workplace for all workers.

MeTooMining will advocate for effective educational presentations, discussions and activities for all employees so that
  • it is clear sexual harassment/violence will not be tolerated,
  • there is uniform understanding of behaviors and actions that constitute sexual harassment in the workplace,
  • Discussions should be included in daily Health & Safety talks and introductory safety talks before meetings,
  • Employees should be offered regular training in Bystander Intervention strategies.

MeTooMining wants to establish a knowledge database on this website that will include,
  • access to studies, reports and data on sexual violence/harassment, bystander intervention, gender and gender cultures,
  • a page dedicated to reporting options for complaints of sexual harassment in the workplace (listed by country),
  • a page dedicated to finding options for support and healing,
  • MTM identifies that more research and data collection is needed on the extent and impact of sexual violence/harassment in the mining and mineral exploration industries and communities.
