​          Susan Lomas,  ​President

Susan is a professional geologist with over 30 years of experience in exploration and mining including geological modelling, resource estimation, due diligence reviews and NI 43-101 reporting.  Her career has included working at remote sites all over the world, with junior exploration firms to operating mines, large consulting firms, and ultimately the consulting firm she founded in 2006.
​

Susan founded the Me Too Mining Association to start the conversation about sexual violence, sexual harassment, harassment, bullying, intimidation and discrimination in the mining and mineral exploration industries and mining impacted communities.  She was honoured in 2018 to be included in the Women in Mining (UK) 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining. ​

         Julia Gartley, Director

Julia is a mineral processing engineer with over a decade of operational and corporate experience.  Her career has taken her from large engineering firms, remote northern Canadian mine sites, to the corporate offices of junior and mid-tier mining companies.

Julia brings to the board a passion for volunteer work, with experience in technical societies, as well as community outreach, and education.

                          David Broughton, Director

David is a mineral exploration geologist with over 30 years of experience.  He has worked primarily in Canada, the Central African Copper Belt in Zambia and DR Congo and South Africa.  He was Vice-President of Exploration for Ivanplats (now Ivanhoe Mines) from 2008 to 2016 and his major discoveries include Kamoa and Platreef deposits.  He completed his PhD at Colorado School of Mines and his Masters and BSc at Waterloo University.   David is currently a director and consulting adviser to several companies and an adjunct professor at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Canada.  He is a strong believer in the importance of field geology, creativity, working with students and young professionals, responsible mining and exploration practice.

                      Chih-Ting Lo, Director

Chih-Ting is an entrepreneur and a professional engineer.  She works with mining and other large industrial organizations to develop and implement innovative energy and climate change programs, focusing on people, processes and technologies.  She has extensive knowledge and experience in low carbon energy supply, energy efficiency and energy storage technologies, policies and market trends.  In her over 15 years of experience, she has worked in mining companies in North America, Latin America, Africa and Asia. 

Chih-Ting brings to the board a proven track record on raising funds and innovative thinking.  She also brings perspectives from other sectors in mining.

​                Ali Shahkar, Director

Ali is geological engineer with over 25 years of experience in the exploration and mining industry.  His career has taken him around the world, and he has worked on projects from grassroots exploration programs, feasibility stage studies through to operating mines.  He co-founded Lions Gate Geological Consulting and completes geological modelling, mineral resource estimations and due diligence reviews.

Ali brings to the board a passion to help educate and empower all workers in mining with the skills to create safer and more respectful workplace cultures and mining impacted communities.
